This traveling exhibit tackles institutionalized housing segregation, commonly known as redlining, which has not been remedied since it was put in place in the 1930s and still devastates generations of families today. I had the pleasure of working with another intern with a background in architecture to envision our solution of this pressing issue.

The Problem
Although redlining was practiced almost 100 years ago, it continues to disproportionately affect Black people.
Over a hundred years ago, redlining devastated generations of families nationwide through racially driven loan practices. Today, this system continues to affect the health, schooling, and generations of Black and minority families who have historically been labeled as “hazardous” to society.

The Solution
A traveling exhibit designed to uncover redlining.
Bubble Plan
Galvanized pipes, eroding over time in older homes, inspire the design themes found within our exhibit. The audience will move through a linear path, as they discover the erosion and deterioration that redlining has caused on today's society.
