GHOST ENERGY is well known for introducing authentic flavors through partnerships with well-known candy and food brands. Sustainability concerns with our textured, sleeved cans grew as the company expanded. We did a massive overhaul of all flavors to refresh the brand and ring in 2025 with printed cans. We suddenly faced unique challenges of redesigning and refreshing our cans with new printing limitations.
The Brief
How can we maintain the integrity of the GHOST ENERGY x SOUR STRIPS can design while facing new printing limitations?
Switching from sleeved to printed cans emphasized the need to limit colors which was a unique challenge for the rainbow SOUR STRIPS can. The older can matched the rainbow gradient featured on the candy packaging but this type of gradient would be impossible on a printed can. We had to pivot to either no gradient or an extremely limited gradient achieved through overprinting at press.

A redesign that seeks to achieve the same look as the original sleeved can while mindful of the limitations that result from printing directly on the can.
